Specification

Let me clear some things up. I, by NO means, consider Brian Zoubek the next Lou Alcindor but I really do think this injury will affect Duke negatively. Although he has a reputation as a stiff, he's a live body off the bench and without Josh and losing out on Patterson, Duke needs as many of those as possible. I mean Duke doesn't even have that walk-on they usually have like Patrick Johnson who can spell a big man for a few minutes. They are much too small and the only team that had the personnel to expose this problem, Pittsburgh, beat them.

Duke has a number of nice wins under their belt but they haven't faced the likes of the BIG teams that can abuse them down low and get whatever big guys they have in foul trouble. Not to mention, this injury will force Singler to play a lot more down low than all Duke fans would like and this could cause him to break down by the end of the year.

Losing Zoubek doesn't hurt Duke production wise and if their jump shots aren't falling, you could have 10 Zoubeks and they still wouldn't win, I agree. However, if Thomas and McClure, who still can't jump, get in foul trouble, than the rest of the team will have to compensate and play out of position.
