Why isn't this a national holiday? The most wonderful time of the year is back and better than ever. This year there are more national title contenders than ever and although the favorites seem to be defending champion Florida and upstart Ohio State, my bracket shows neither in the Championship game.
Since November, I've been telling anyone who would listen that Florida would not repeat. I still have the same feeling but I believe if they get to the Final 4, they will win it. So, that leaves them getting upset inside what most consider the easiest bracket. My upset of the tournament will be Maryland over Florida in the Sweet 16 because they can match their athleticism.
My Sweet 16 predictions are as followed:
Florida, Maryland, Oregon, Georgia Tech
Kansas, Virginia Tech, Duke, UCLA
Ohio St, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Memphis
UNC, Texas, Vandy, Georgetown
Elite 8:
Maryland, Oregon
Kansas, UCLA (sorry I cant see Duke pulling it out in Cali)
Ohio State, Texas A&M
UNC, Georgetown
Final 4:
Maryland
UCLA
Ohio State
North Carolina
Championship Game:
UCLA
North Carolina
National Champion:
UCLA
*Note* I believe if UNC gets to the title game, they will win it because of their superior depth but as a big Dukie, I couldn't do it. UCLA is a long shot but I believe they can win and not that many people will have it so if it happens, I will be golden in some pools.
